You can get all the revenge
on the track you want and I usually agree with it. But when you put crewmembers and NASCAR officials at risk that is going
over the line. You never purposely crash someone on pit road (Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon have purposely crashed people on
pit road and it was wrong then too). What if Stewart’s car would have careened in to a team working on another car…
it could have been disastrous.
NASCAR seems to be attracting
a new cast of characters, some who are just looking around maybe for a future ride, and some who are coming to race. The biggest
names being Juan Pablo Montoya and Danica Patrick.
Montoya is jumping from the sinking ship called F1 and all of the pundits are excited. He is a former winner
of the Indy 500, Monaco Grand Prix, and the Champ Car World Series championship.
He has an impressive resume
but he has never turned left in his career. From what I have know of him, he seems cock and brash, which might go well over
in Europe and make him a better driver but will alienate him from the American fans.
NASCAR says that he must pass
a driving test to race on certain tracks, so who knows if he will even be allowed to race at certain tracks in 2007.
Will he win in NASCAR, if he
stays in the Ganassi Camp, probably not? But he should have some decent runs, especially at places like Infineon and Watkins
Glen.
Everyone is talking about
Danica Patrick and how she supposedly wants to step up her game and come to NASCAR.
The only thing she has on her resume is she is the only woman to lead the Indy 500, and a career best finish of 4th.
Is this a reason to be offered a top ride in NASCAR… No!!!
The visit to Michigan a few weeks ago was nothing but a publicity stunt. She knows she cannot race in NASCAR. She is
not skilled enough, but what it did do was to get people in IRL to talk and to get a team to put up the money to keep her
in an IRL car.
The IRL cannot afford to lose their winless wonder, and it looks as if they will pay any amount to keep her there.
This is a good thing as it will keep her from making a fool out of herself in NASCAR. The other big advantage for the IRL
if they keep Patrick, it will keep the young girls (and guys) coming to IRL events.
Just my views and opinions on recent headlines in the wacky world we call NASCAR.
