Impressive/Unimpressive: The Dega Demolition

April 28, 2008

Joe Jacobs - SCR

Impressive:

Kyle Busch: Busch finished the job he started at Daytona that makes seven NASCAR wins this season; two in trucks, three in the Nationwide Series and now two Cup wins. He’s hot at the moment and keeping his once rude attitude in check. Things are looking up.

Robby Gordon: After running on the other side of the world in the Dakar Rally and flying home he finished a respectable 15th. Its tough to be a one car team, its tough to drive a totally different car on the other side of the world and then get in to a NASCAR Sprint Cup car without any practice and finish in the top 15, now that’s impressive.

David Stremme: For a fill in driver it was a great day for Stremme. He ran up front and was a contender much of the day. Getting taken out on the last lap might have been a downer but he has nothing to hold his head down about. You showed that you can run with the big boys and that might just pay off with another Cup ride in the near future.

Joe Nemechek: Starting on the pole with an under funded team. Even with support from the Hendrick camp it is a great achievement. He ran a good race and finished 25th.

Notables: David Regan finished fourth. I know I’ve given him a hard time but he has run a respectable race Sunday. Brian Vickers finished fifth, last year this team could not make a race, this year it looks as if they could win a race. Travis Kvapil had a sponsor Sunday and had a good run. More sponsors will come aboard if the good runs continue.

Unimpressive:

Kevin Lepage: I thought he knew better than that. I mean his stupidity caused a lot of problems Saturday. He use to be a mid-pack Sprint Cup driver but now he should not be racing a lawn mower. NASCAR should suspend him indefinitely for stupidity.

Larry Gunselman: What he did Saturday is inexcusable. You actually injured another driver and that is unacceptable. He is a horrible driver and should NEVER be allowed in another NASCAR race or any other sanctioned race ever again.

Juan Pablo Montoya: He finished second Sunday and that was a good run, however he did take out the 15 car, and to make it even worse you were below the yellow line. NASCAR should have penalized you and better you will not make many friends if you keep doing things like that.
