Impressive/Unimpressive: The Bristol Bullring

March 17, 2008

Joe Jacobs – SCR

Impressive:

Dale Jarrett: I know the winner usually goes first but this was Jarrett’s last point’s race. It’s been a nice ride for all of us, fan or not everyone must respect a true gentleman, champion and all around great person. Thanks Dale!!!

Jeff Burton: For once riding around in the top five pays off in a big way, winning at Bristol. Burton did not have the fastest car Sunday but sometimes it pays to be in the right place at the right time.

Richard Childress Racing: Who would have thought that before Sunday that Childress had never swept the top three. Burton, Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer pulled it off for him at Bristol.

Aric Almirola: First run in 2008 and it was a top ten. The No. 8 car has been looking good this season. Almirola stepped in to it and made it looked like Mark Martin in it. Let’s hold judgment on him until at least after Martinsville in two weeks.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: The only Hendrick car in the top ten once again this week, It’s been a good year for him so far. The only thing they need now is a win and Hendrick will sacrifice everything to get that win for him. Ask Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon they were really weak Sunday and Earnhardt Jr. was top ten all day long.

Unimpressive:

Tony Stewart: Well not so much unimpressive but what can you do? Your best friend (Kevin Harvick) takes you out and you can’t get mad because Harvick may just be scheduled to do your radio show (Harvick is scheduled to do Stewart's radio show Monday night). With friends like that “Smoke,” who needs enemies?

Jimmie Johnson: He still has the ability to win at any given racetrack but I honestly don’t believe he is getting the parts that lets say Earnhardt Jr. is getting. He and his crew are saying that they are getting the cars ready for the end of the year but if they are too far behind when that time comes, it may not matter.

Jamie McMurray: Well your good looks have got you this far. Crown Royal loves that you appeal to the young crowd. However, you are out of the top 35. A mistake in qualifying at Martinsville and you will be going home. One has to think that your days are numbered in Cup regardless if you make it back in the top 35 or not. I bet Jack Roush will blame Toyota for him being out of the top 35.
