Ten Headlines I Hope to See in 2008

January 8, 2008

Lisa Fowler - SCR

1) Hendrick drivers finish 1-2-3-4 at the Daytona 500

      1-Dale Earnhardt Jr.

      2-Casey Mears

      3-Jeff Gordon

      4-Jimmie Johnson

2) ESPN Broadcasts an Entire Sprint Cup Race Without Screwing Up.

3) ESPN’s Rusty Wallace Calls an Entire Sprint Cup Race without saying “Well, I did not know that!” Did this guy really drive a racecar for all of those years? (I now understand why Dale Earnhardt Sr. gave him the nickname “Rubberhead”).

4) ESPN 2 Broadcasts an Entire Nationwide Series Race from Start to Finish. Forget trying to tape these races. You start on ESPN Classic, switch to ESPN, switch to ESPN Alternative, switch to ESPN2 for the final 10 laps and they still do not show Carl Edward’s triple back flip.

5) Dale Earnhardt Jr. Completes Ten Races in a Row (using the same car and engine that he started the race with).

6) Dale Earnhardt Jr. Completes Ten Races in a Row (without hitting the wall out of complete frustration).

7) Three car pile-up involving all three Joe Gibbs cars leads to weekly prayer meetings.

8) Three car Pile-up involving all three Joe Gibbs cars leads to weekly boxing matches.

9) Tim Brewer explains a loose racecar without Rusty Wallace Saying “Great Explanation”! (Again, I totally understand the “Rubberhead” nickname)

10) Dale Earnhardt Jr. is Crowned the 2008 Sprint Cup Champion in his first season with Hendrick Motorsports (Where are all those critics now)?
