Impressive/Unimpressive: The Charlotte Shuffle

October 15, 2007

Joe Jacobs - SCR

Impressive:

Jeff Gordon: Two wins in a row in the middle of the Chase… turn out the lights and call it a season, I said it in June and Ill say it again in October… this one is over. They can wheel out the seashell shaped trophy at Martinsville because Gordon goes for kill when it’s this time of year.

Clint Bowyer: Bowyer not expected to do anything in the Chase, he was looked down upon for not winning a race and still making the chase, but another great run equaled top 5 for this team, and he is only 78 points behind Gordon with five races to go.

Michael Waltrip: A top ten at a non-restrictor plate track, a pole the week before. This almost makes having the worst season in his career a little bit better, who knows there might be a light at the end of this tunnel.

Bobby Labonte: Over the second half of the season Labonte should get the most improved award. Another top 15 finish for a well under funded team with a lot of talent. If something crazy happens in one of these late races they could steal a win and who would boo?

EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL PIRATES:  I know this is a NASCAR site but I had to give my Alma Mater some props. They have just won the last three games in a row and have big momentum going in to this weekends backyard brawl with hated rival NC STATE… GO PIRATES ARRRRRG

Unimpressive:

Kyle Busch: Big time players go for the big time chances; he could have taken out Gordon and showed them that he will never forget getting fired. But he let him go and had to settle for 3rd. Gordon would have crashed him in a heartbeat.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Aggressive is not your style, going for broke with nothing to lose made you look good for a while, but then you let Jeff Gordon (future teammate) walk all over you and that is not a way to be aggressive. But that is the difference between a soon to be 5-time champ and a mediocre winner. He will bump and knock you out of the way, and you won’t do it.

SCR is looking for writers in all the series we cover, if interested email us at scr@stockcarreview.com to receive further information.

Ryan Newman: He makes a nice move late in the race to take the lead and has a chance to end his winless drought. All of a sudden two laps later he hits the wall. Some drivers have all the luck and some all the pain… Newman is in the latter and still winless in the last 76 races.

Drivers 4 – 12 in the Chase: Not really sure what these guys are doing, but winning is definitely not what their doing. They look like amateurs. Gordon, Johnson, and Bowyer are making them pathetic. Maybe they should be ashamed to show up in New York at the awards banquet, Gordon did not show up a few years ago. He had his big check mailed to him. I am sure NEXTEL and NASCAR can direct deposit it for you as well.
