And so, Reutimann struggles have largely gone unnoticed, and yet being ill and taking one of the hardest hits in memorable
history have not kept him out of the car.
He is an inspiration to all short track drivers in their twenties and above, track champions with a family to feed,
that probably will never get the call from a major team.
Like his father, legendary Buzzie Reutimann, he knows how to get around a great little dirt track in Tampa, Florida, East Bay Speedway.
But racing into the Daytona 500 and out qualifying some of the best at Darlington is a different skill altogether.
David Reutimann has made it, and if the pieces will hold together just a little longer his finishes and point’s position
will show it.
The skill is there—period.
And yet, in an irony that perhaps David himself is unaware of, he is no longer a short track racer on a big track,
but a Cup driver, and a good one at that.
David Reutimann is a man of strong Faith. Like many, he is humble and the Spiritual Lifestyle itself leads to introspection
and a never ending desire to move forward to the next step.
While unarguably the correct path to take, it is also necessary to give thanks for the gifts already given, and in
the case of David Reutimann, along with a big heart that gift is a very hot shoe.
David, stand tall. Make no mistake, you are the man! Your Faith has been,
and will continue to be, an inspiration to many. Let the Faith of many be an inspiration
to you!
