Concord, NC - Scott Riggs won the pole for Saturday Night's Bank of America 500, but still the garage talk continued to be about the last lap incident with Brian Vickers, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Here are those who participated in talking about the Vickers incident:

Jeff Gordon: "No doubt it was an innocent mistake of bad timing, but Brian and I are still friends."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. "It was just a mistake on his part and I have made plenty of them and we will all make them. I am glad to see him win because I have known him for a long time, but I think we all wish that it would have been under better circumstances."

Brian Vickers: "This week I have mixed emotions due to last week. It's unfortunate with the circumstances and we are not running from it. I am absolutely looking forward to just racing on Saturday night."

Jimmie Johnson on the late crash hurting him in points: "We are not done points racing yet, but I think it's out of my control to a certain degree. I have to and my team has to focus on what we are capable of throughout the remaining races."

One last thing: Even if they haven't talked to each other yet, Johnson and Vickers garage stalls are just eight spots away from each other.

"It was an awesome feeling lap," said Riggs after grabbing the pole at Lowe's Motor Speedway. "Rodney Childers (crew chief) told me to put the car into the corners as hard as I wanted to and it would stick and it really did," claimed Riggs. Riggs is also eager to win in order to make up for losing the Coca-Cola 600 back in May due to a terrible last pit stop. The driver of the Valvoline/Stanley Tools No. 10 Dodge is very adamant that he can get his first win this weekend.

Kasey Kahne was shaking after his lap, but no worries, that's a good sign. "I shake all the time no matter what happens, but I am excited with our lap and our car for this weekend." The driver of the No.9 Dodge ended up second though even with the case of the shakes.

Elliott Sadler will start fifth on Saturday in his No. 19 Dodge. Sadler also stopped to make a quick comment about Evernham Motorpsorts. "It has been a blessing. I don't know what type of problems they had over here, but so far I have had the time of my life these past few weeks," stated Sadler.

Clint Bowyer, driver of the No. 07 Jack Daniels Chevy has struggled at LMS, but was happy with how qualifying went. "We had a great turn around from being 30th in practice to qualify in the top ten. I am extremely proud of this team," said Bowyer. Many believe that Bowyer is also on the verge of victory and its manageable starting from eighth in Saturday's 500-mile event.

Tire Troubles: In May there were a number of tire issues, but when I talked with Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon, and Brian Vickers all three were happier with the left side tires that Goodyear had brought to the race track for the weekend. Fuel mileage is still a big concern though and how it will be played comes Saturday night.
