Carl Edwards won the first Nextel Cup race on the new concrete at the Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) Saturday night and his second of the season by holding off Kasey Kahne. In a race that saw long green flag runs and few cautions early also saw Kahne who finished second dominate early and lead 305 of the 500 total laps overall.

 

Following Edwards and Kahne who finished first and second was Clint Bowyer in third. Tony Stewart battled handling issues early to finish fourth and Dale Earnhardt Jr. rounded out the top five.

 

The man Earnhardt is battling to make the Chase, Kurt Busch finished sixth he was followed by Ryan Newman, Bobby Labonte who had his second straight top 10, Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle rounded out the top 10.

 

With the win, that Edwards called the biggest of his career locked himself into the Chase. With his second place finish Kahne earned his first top five of 2007. SCR
