Outside at Daytona Wins Again

Nextel Cup News

Jamie McMurray and Kyle Busch made the Pepsi 400 Saturday night look like the Daytona 500 in February. McMurray took the outside line Saturday night like Kevin Harvick did in February and beat Kyle Busch back to the line by a bumper (5/1000 of a second) to take the win. Busch finished second followed by his brother Kurt Busch in third. McMurray’s teammate Carl Edwards finished fourth followed by Jeff Gordon in fifth.

McMurray fought back from a black flag early in the Pepsi 400 for passing below the yellow line and raced his way back to the front on way to the win.

Greg Biffle led the second half of the top 10 in sixth, he was followed by Clint Bowyer, Matt Kenseth, Kasey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the top 10.

The win was the second for McMurray in his career and the first since his second race ever, when he won filling in for an injured Sterling Marlin at Chip Ganassi Racing in October of 200 at Charlotte. SCR
